Redemption Groups

When you drive down Broadway, you’ll pass multiple churches. But if we understand the Bible correctly, anyone who has Jesus’ new, redeemed life is part of his church, no matter where he or she goes on Sundays.  Pews, hymnals, concert-style music, lavish buildings, or whatever you may associate with the church, are low priority externals to us. Church is not something you go to, but something you are a part of. In those terms, there really is only one church. Every Christian is united to every other Christian, whether they go to the same building on Sunday or meet in an underground house in China.

However, this one universal body of Jesus obviously gathers in pockets throughout the world, and even our city. Redemption Church is one gathering of people who find life in Jesus.  God’s purpose for his church is to share the good news of Jesus’ redemption with the world that all things might be restored to him.  So being part of a church means you have a part in this mission as well.  Redemption Groups are the primary way for us at Redemption Church to be part of a community that fulfills this mission.

A Redemption Group is a community of people living for Jesus together by planting the Gospel in a specific area, demonstrating the gospel in tangible ways, and engaging one another regularly with the Gospel.

Each Redemption Group:

  • Is led by a team committed to helping their community fulfill its God-given mission.
  • Grows in their understanding of who Jesus is, and their identity as worshippers, disciples, servants, and missionaries.
  • Lives out this identity together through celebrating, engaging, giving, and blessing in the daily rhythms of life.
  • Trains and equips new leaders to form new Redemption Groups to reach new people.
